Ronald B. Baran, DDS, MBA, MA
Dr. Ron Baran has spent more than five decades inside dentistry — as a clinician, practice owner, consultant, and transition advisor. A graduate of Loyola University School of Dentistry, Dr. Baran later earned an MBA in business management and a master’s degree in counseling psychology. That uncommon combination — dentistry, business, and human behavior — defines his work today.
Over the course of his career, he owned and operated six dental practices in the Chicago area and founded MYCROFT Consulting, Inc., where he worked with dentists on practice management, valuation, leadership development, and transition planning. His focus has always been on what truly determines whether an exit feels like freedom or regret: not just the transaction itself, but the operational, financial, and personal readiness behind it.
Dr. Baran has also devoted years to studying the emotional side of dentistry — burnout, identity, and what happens when a doctor is no longer the center of the practice. His research on dentist personality and professional satisfaction was published in General Dentistry (2005), and he remains active in both the American Dental Association and the American Psychological Association.
Today, his work centers on helping dentists design exits that preserve not just their money — but their legacy, their teams, and their sense of purpose on the other side of ownership.
